Cross-country skiing takes hold in Cold Lake

A group of Nordic skiers have come together to share their love for the sport with the City of Cold Lake.
It all started with Les and Sarah Parsons, who founded the Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club, and put a call out in Cold Lake to see if there were any cross-country skiers in the city interested in joining them.
A meeting was held at the Energy Centre in October. About 10 people showed up, and the result was a Facebook group called the Cold Lake Nordic Skiers, which now has over 80 members.
Any Cold Laker interested in cross-country skiing can join the Facebook page and participate, free of charge, in its group skis, which to date have included three moonlight skis, as well as a ski trip to Muriel Lake, all of which have been organized by volunteers. ....

The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks (NSCF) is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Head Coach to lead its junior racing and training program, Fairbanks Cross Country (FX C).
Salary starts at $40,000 and up depending upon experience. The FXC Head Coach reports directly to the Director of Skier Development and the Skier Development Oversight Committee.
Ideally, the candidate who is selected would arrive in Fairbanks by June 1st and be leading the program by late summer.
Interested parties should send letters of interest and resumes to fxcmasters@nscfairbanks.org. Applicant packages should provide a summary of coaching experience, personal competition experience, and experience waxing for competition. The position will remain open until filled. A selection committee from the NSCF will conduct interviews via zoom with qualified candidates. Please submit applications by April 19th, interviews will begin by April 26th. ....
