ALTON A parade for Alton High School’s 2021 graduates is planned for 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, May 21.
The parade was first held last year because COVID-19 precautions prevented traditional graduation events. The Alton School District and Alton Police are planning Friday’s celebration and encouraging community members to make signs and decorate their parked cars as part of the event. ....

LLCC to Hold Virtual Commencement, Graduate Parade

Lincoln Land Community College will be holding a virtual commencement and a graduate parade this week for the class 2021.
LLCC President Dr. Charlotte Warren says the theme for this year’s commencement, “Driven to Succeed”, captures their students’ strong motivation to achieve their goals during these unique times.
The Graduate Parade will be a drive-through event held Thursday, May 13, starting at 6 p.m. on the main campus in Springfield. Faculty and staff will line the parade route holding congratulatory signs.
The virtual commencement ceremony will premiere Friday, May 14, at 7 p.m. A link to the commencement video will be available at www.llcc.edu/graduation. Graduates were invited to submit photos of themselves, which will be displayed as their names, degrees, and certificates are read by LLCC professor of sociology, Dr. Colin Suchland. ....

Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Lake Land College will host a Virtual Commencement Ceremony to honor the accomplishments of the Spring and Summer 2021 Lake Land graduates at 7:30 p.m. on May 14. The event will premiere at 7:30 p.m. on the Lake Land College YouTube page, and will be accessible from the college’s home page. The event will be available to watch at any time after the premiere.
In addition to the virtual commencement ceremony, the college will host a Graduate Parade on campus May 14 at 3 p.m. Faculty and staff will line the circle drive of campus and graduates are encouraged to decorate their vehicles. Graduates are welcome to bring family members to drive in the car with them, but attendance will be limited to one car per graduate. Spectators will be limited to Lake Land College employees. ....

Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Lake Land College is adding a new feature to the graduation ceremonies this May. In addition to a virtual commencement ceremony, the college will host a parade for all graduates on campus on May 14, 2021.
The Graduate Parade will follow the circle drive of campus. Faculty and staff will line the drive and graduates are encouraged to decorate their vehicles. Graduates are welcome to bring family members to drive in the car with them. Spectators will be limited to Lake Land College employees.
Along the route, graduates will stop in front of the Luther Student Center, where Lake Land College President Dr. Josh Bullock will present the graduate a diploma cover. Families are then welcome to park in LOT F and take a photo on campus grounds. ....
