Ademola Orunbon The Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Akingbolahan Adeniran, has said that the training of the State Task Force on Human Trafficking with other relevant Agencies, was an additional advantage to eradicate the high rate of human trafficking, especially across the State’s border areas. Adeniran made this known during a one-day workshop on “The Basic Knowledge and Skills in Assisting Victims of Human Trafficking”, held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the State capital. The Commissioner said that it is imperative to collaborate with relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and Security Agencies to tackle the high rate of trafficking, adding that the teamwork would further strengthen the efforts to solve problems relating with human trafficking.

Uyo – U.S. Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard and a delegation from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) led by Mission Director Anne Patterson over the weekend visited Akwa Ibom as part of efforts to stem the tide of HIV cases in the state. The Ambassador met Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and other senior state officials, and toured hospital and HIV control facilities supported by USAID. Speaking after a meeting with the Akwa Ibom governor, Ambassador Leonard explained that they discussed the success of HIV control in Akwa Ibom State as a result of a “surge” in U.S. assistance through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the state abolishing user fees for treatments.

Barbados gets training to combat human trafficking Article by January 28, 2021 Last Saturday, the Criminal Justice Reform project funded by the Governments of the United States of America and the United Kingdom, handed over 50 e-learning programmes on Human Trafficking to the Office of the Attorney General of Barbados. The e-learning modules to combat human trafficking were developed as training aids for frontline responders who may encounter trafficked individuals as part of their daily duties. The e-learning programme will be distributed to Immigration, Customs and the Royal Barbados Police Force. The e-learning modules cover awareness issues around human trafficking, insight into what human trafficking entails, general indicators for human trafficking and resource available to support professionals and victims.
