Task Force Oceania is a new Army task force consisting of soldiers from all components of the United Sates (U.S.) Army. This includes active-duty, Army Reserve and the National Guard.
The mission of the task force is to provide continuous support in the Pacific Island countries, assist U.S. embassies as needed, and reinforce lasting and meaningful relationships in the region.
Task Force Oceania’s Pacific Augmentation Team (PAT) Papua New Guinea (PNG) represents the agility of U.S. Army organisations to achieve mission success regardless of circumstances.
PAT PNG consists of two soldiers, officer-in-charge, Captain (Capt.) Christopher Meza and cultural liaison officer, Corporal (Cpl) Louie Kaman. Over the course of their year-long mobilisation, they have set the precedent for future operations. ....

Suva, Fiji – U.S. Army Sergeant Ratukalivati Volavola, Cultural Non-Commissioned Officer for the Pacific Augmentation Team-Fiji, Task Force Oceania, 9th Mission Support Command spoke at his alma mater, LDS Church College, in Suva. Sgt. Volavola, a native of Fiji who was raised in Nabitu Village in Tailevu, attended LDS Church College from 1998-2004 and returned as a guest speaker on March 4.
He met with students in years 12 and 13 who are preparing to move into college or trade school professions at a school career day. The theme of Sgt. Volavola’s remarks was opportunity. “Be open to opportunities and opportunities will open doors for you,” he told the youth. He spoke about how his life experiences were changed by the opportunities he took. From going on his LDS Mission to Northern California, USA to his application for a senior management position at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii ....

U.S. EMBASSY KOROR The 9th Mission Support Command’s Task Force Oceania Team Palau helped the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Embassy at Koror carry out Operation Christmas Drop 2020. The success of OCD 20 was the result of months of planning and coordination between the U.S. military, the State Department, and several Pacific island countries.
Task Force Oceania’s Team Palau worked closely with local government officials in Koror, Kayangel, Anguar, Peleliu, Tobi, Sonsorol, and Pulo Anna islands to ensure the local communities would be ready to receive the Christmas bundles of food, tools, clothing, and toys. ....

SUVA, U.S. Embassy in Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, and Tuvalu The U.S. Army 322 Civil Affairs Brigade, part of the 9th Mission Support Command (MSC), is currently partnering with three Soldiers from the Army National Guard to conduct civil-military operations in the Oceania region of the Pacific.
The three Guardsmen are Major Patrick Arizmendi and Captain Luis Muruato of the Nevada National Guard and Captain Chris Meza of the Wisconsin National Guard. These states currently have existing partnerships with Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Tonga as part of the National Guard’s State Partnership Program (SPP). ....
