Justin Gabbani moves from finance to the top slot for Asia
Australia’s Lendlease has filled out the succession picture for its top job in Asia, elevating a longtime company finance exec, and reaching into big four accounting firms to find new leadership for its talent efforts.
The real estate group announced last Thursday that it is promoting regional chief financial officer Justin Gabbani to Asia CEO effective 1 June. Gabbani, who will continue to be based in Singapore, replaces former regional boss Tony Lombardo, who in February was named Lendlease’s group chief executive.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Justin and Deb on their respective appointments,” McCann said. “Their demonstrated skills and expertise will bring valuable new perspectives to Lendlease’s global leadership team as the group continues to execute against its record $110 billion global development pipeline.” ....

Medical tests promoted in media with no mention of potential harm, Australian study finds


The study also found widespread failure of media outlets to cover important conflicts of interest, such as commentators receiving payments from the companies marketing the new tests. For example, 19 of 22 authors of a key trial examining the ability of the Apple Watch to detect atrial fibrillation disclosed taking grants or personal fees from Apple, yet this information was rarely reported in news stories.
Moynihan said half the stories researchers examined quoted someone who had a financially relevant conflict of interest, but only 12% of stories disclosed that.
“These are very worrying findings that suggest that the public is being given an over-optimistic picture about these tests,” he said. ....
