Tina Byles Williams encourages her team to get involved.
The Philadelphia-based minority- and woman-owned money manager Xponance Inc. is celebrating its 25th anniversary by instituting a day of service for its employees and plans to expand its A Good Measure Foundation.
Now that restrictions on in-person meetings and events because of COVID-19 are being lifted and in honor of the firm s founding 25 years ago, Xponance employees are being encouraged to take a paid day off to volunteer with nonprofit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area that aid underserved and marginalized communities and educate young people on leadership skills and financial literacy. ....

When Janice Roundtree, 58, first enrolled in the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, she called it “a miracle.”
Roundtree lives with three children and two grandchildren in her Strawberry Mansion home. She had been scraping by running a small catering and takeout business when the pandemic hit. The federal unemployment system provided a lifeline for her family amid shutdown orders and the tanking economy.
Last summer, in what came as a surprise, she received several thousand dollars in unemployment compensation at once. Confused, she went looking for answers.
“I tried to call PUA, but it was impossible. I tried to call them 1,000 times a day,” she said. Her granddaughter had helped her download an autodialing app. ....

Even in this very abnormal year, mural tours are still being conducted regularly as viable outdoor and socially distanced activities with many of the new works inspired by the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement.
“Currently, walking tours are one of the safest things to do because you can keep a good distance from everyone else, wear a mask and be outside,” said Jenny Benson, the co-founder and director of Walking Tours in Scotland. “So, we’re lucky because even in the highest tier of lockdown in Scotland, we can still run our tours.” ....
