End the War on Drugs Lobby Day to take place Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY â The âEnd the War on Drugs Lobby Dayâ is taking place at the Capitol Tuesday.
The event is being hosted by Crossing Paths. Crossing Paths Executive Director/Treasurer/lobbyist, Bharani Kumar is leading those in attendance around the capitol.
The purpose of the event is to show state representatives and senators that citizens support issues in the Missouri Capitol such as the legalization of marijuana, psychedelic medicine, de-felonizing drug possession and other criminal justice reforms.Â Â
This event comes after legislation was filed to possibly legalize these topics in 2022.Â
Executive Director for PreventEd, an organization that focuses on reducing and preventing the harms of drug and alcohol addictions, Nichole Dawsey said she does not agree with everything the group seems to represent, but is glad the event is taking place.Â ....

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An Israeli-Canadian lobbyist hired by Myanmar’s junta said on Saturday that the generals are keen to leave politics after their coup and seek to improve relations with the United States and distance themselves from China.

On the heels of his resignation from the Oregon House of Representatives under a cloud of sexual harrassment complaints, Diego Hernandez should also resign from the Reynolds School Board.
Rep. Diego Hernandez avoided expulsion from the Oregon House in February by resigning in the aftermath of multiple violations of legislative rules against sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
Now, Hernandez faces another decision, whether he should continue to serve in an elected capacity on the Reynolds School Board. That group has tentatively scheduled a discussion and vote on March 10 on a resolution where it might ask Hernandez to step down voluntarily. ....

Dunleavy Chief of Staff Ben Stevens to leave for VP job at ConocoPhillips Alaska

JUNEAU Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s chief of staff, Ben Stevens, is leaving the administration to take a job with ConocoPhillips Alaska, the governor’s office said in a written statement Wednesday morning.
Stevens will become vice president of external affairs and transportation at ConocoPhillips Alaska, the announcement said. The company is the largest oil producer in Alaska.
ConocoPhillips Alaska spokeswoman Natalie Lowman said Stevens will start his new job Monday. It wasn’t immediately clear when his last day at work in the governor’s office would be. ....
