SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Barton Health will be holding another drive-through vaccination clinic at Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday, May 21. Those who received their first vaccination at the April 30 clinic should already have their appointments scheduled. Individuals in need of their first or second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine may receive it at this clinic. The clinic is held in partnership with the State of California and Vail Resorts.
COVID-19 vaccines help protect people who are vaccinated from getting sick or severely ill with COVID-19 and may also help protect people around them. Get a vaccine as soon as you can; widespread vaccination is a critical tool to help stop the pandemic, said Barton Health. ....

El Dorado may move to no appointment vaccine clinics with 'massive falloff' in demand

Supervisors on Tuesday also passed a proclamation during its regular meeting declaring May through October as the Lake Tahoe Basin Wildfire Awareness Campaign.
Fire agencies around the basin this year are working with communities to stay prepared all season by asking residents and visitors to take responsibility when living and recreating in high fire-hazard areas.
“By taking action now and throughout the season, we can save precious time in the event of an evacuation by preparing a go-bag and family evacuation plan early,” said Steve Leighton, fire chief for North Tahoe and Meeks Bay fire protection districts, in a statement earlier this week. “To help Lake Tahoe survive a wildfire, residents must manage the vegetation around their homes, and practice home maintenance in order for homes to resist ignition.” ....

South Lake Tahoe vaccine clinic on May 17 relocated

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. The city of South Lake Tahoe is relocating its May 17 COVID-19 vaccine clinic to the recreation center from the original location of Heavenly Mountain Resort’s California Lodge.
“We are extremely grateful for the offer and support from Heavenly, they have been an amazing partner through these challenging times, the city said in a press release. ”However, due to some logistical needs, the city’s recreation center will be ideal to meet the goals of this event.“

This is a free clinic, utilizing the Moderna vaccine. Individuals who have had their first Moderna vaccine dose at least 24 days prior to May 17 are eligible as well as anybody 18 years and over who would like a first dose. ....
