Al Wakra Hospital emergency to close; care for COVID-19 patients

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) announced on Twitter that the Al Wakra Emergency Department will be closed from tomorrow midnight.
As part of the healthcare sector’s measures to boost hospital capacity and meet increasing demand due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Al Wakra Hospital has been designated as a facility to care for COVID-19 patients, HMC said in a tweet.
HMC also added that due to this, Al Wakra Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed. This decision will be effective from midnight Friday, April 2.
In the same tweet, HMC also mentioned that people in Al Wakra and other parts of Qatar requiring urgent and emergency medical services should select one of the following alternatives: ....

(Reuters) - Airlines with planes idled by the pandemic are cutting costs by delaying some maintenance tasks like changing life vests, testing oxygen bottles and checking emergency exits under COVID-19 waivers from airplane manufacturers and regulators.

Salem races to repair Mill Lane bridge amid Roanoke logperch spawn season

Salem engineers on the Roanoke River bed are racing against nature to finish maintenance beneath the bridge on Mill Lane, because rain forecast later this week threatens to postpone the project for an endangered fishâs spawning season.
Flaggers are restricting traffic to one lane to fit extra equipment while contractors in a temporarily drained, dammed section of the riverbed perform routine maintenance to the low-water bridgeâs concrete piers.
Time is of the essence this week, said Salem City Engineer William Simpson.
âTheyâre trying to get that work done as quick as they can,â Simpson said. âWe donât want to get an instance where a bunch of rain comes in and it floods the cofferdam, and then weâre stuck not being able to do anything until July 1.â ....
