CARTER BILL WOULD PREVENT FELONY MURDER CONVICTION OF MINORS: Sen. Jill Carter (D-Baltimore City) Tuesday emphasized her support for legislation that would prohibit minors from being convicted of first-degree murder and allow those who committed that crime as a minor to petition to have that finding reviewed by a court, reports Bryan Renbaum for Maryland Reporter.
HOGAN TO EXPAND VAXX ELIGIBILITY: Gov. Larry Hogan said Tuesday that he’ll announce “shortly” the next steps of expanding eligibility for the coronavirus vaccine in Maryland, as the state expects supplies to increase. During a visit to a vaccine clinic in Prince George’s County, the Republican governor said White House officials just told governors to expect a boost in vaccine doses starting March 29, Pamela Wood and Donovan Conaway of the Sun reports.

The most populous county in Maryland will finally receive a mass vaccination site through the state, following ongoing attempts by county officials.
In the Montgomery County Council Session on Tuesday morning, council members learned that Montgomery College in Germantown will house Maryland's newest mass vaccination site. The exact date on when it'll open is still unclear, but officials plan to have residents lining up in the coming weeks.
The goal is to eventually administer 3,000 doses on a daily basis. Currently, the county will be getting an additional 2,000 doses from the state next week, according to Councilman Will Jawando.

The state has approved a COVID-19 mass vaccination site at Montgomery College Germantown, County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Dr. Earl Stoddard announced during a council session Tuesday.
“The positive news is really that the state has given us the go-ahead and they will be actively supporting us with real logistical support to get this site up and running,” Stoddard said.
“And they are going to sort of recognize it as a partnership site with the state as we build that out.” This site will be slightly different from other “truly state-run” mass vaccination sites in Maryland because it is a partnership between the state, county, Montgomery College and Holy Cross Health.

Her clinic primarily serves Black and Hispanic families.

Virginia and Maryland’s seven-day average counts of new cases were the same on Tuesday, at 864, after months of Virginia reporting much higher numbers. Virginia is the larger state, and the falling numbers indicate some success in slowing the virus’ spread.
In Virginia, 843 more people tested positive for COVID-19, but the weekly average of cases declined by 186. After falling steadily since March 3, current hospitalizations went back up to 855. Another 157 COVID-19 patients were reported hospitalized in the commonwealth, an above-average increase.
