Die Negativschlagzeilen rund um den US-Hedgefonds Archegos und die Finanzvehikel von Greensill bei der Credit Suisse sind ärgerlich und für die Bank schädlich. Dennoch ist die Bank nicht gefährdet. Mit einer Pflichtwandelanleihe hat sie am Finanzmarkt zusätzlich Geld aufgenommen, um die Kapitalbasis zu stärken. Dennoch ist es sinnvoll, dass man sich auch als Besitzer von Fondsanteilen oder Exchange Traded Funds ETF grundsätzlich Gedanken darüber macht, wie sicher diese sind, falls es an den Finanzmärkten erneut zu gravierenden Turbulenzen käme und auch Banken oder Fondsfirmen zusammenbrechen würden.
Bei Ihrer Fragestellung gilt es zu unterscheiden zwischen dem Risiko eines Konkurses der Depotbank und eines Konkurses der Fondsverwaltung. Wenn Ihre Depotbank Pleite gehen würde, wäre Ihr in Fonds investiertes Geld nicht einfach weg. Denn Wertschriften wie Fonds, Aktien oder Obligationen, welche Sie im Depot der Bank halten, bleiben auch im Konkursfall der Bank in Ihrem Besitz. Die Wertschriften würden dann auf eine andere Depotbank übertragen. Gefährdet sind indes allenfalls liquide Mittel, denn im Rahmen der gesetzlichen Einlagensicherung sind nur liquide Mittel bis maximal 100’000 Franken je Kunde und Bank geschützt.

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Tuesday the recent stock price rally reflected market optimism over the global economic outlook, brushing aside views its ultra-loose monetary policy was fuelling an asset price bubble.
Kuroda said the central bank would be vigilant for financial risks associated with prolonged easing, nodding to growing concern among some lawmakers that prolonged easing was sowing the seeds of a bubble.

Invesco unveils Europe's first ETF for exposure to US municipal bonds
Today's launch of the Invesco US Municipal Bond UCITS exchange traded fund (ETF) seeks to provide investors with an opportunity for higher yields than are generally available from the US investment grade credit market without taking on additional credit risk.
The ETF is the first of its kind in Europe.

Gary Buxton, head of EMEA ETFs and Indexed Strategies at Invesco, said: "We are pleased to be bringing the first municipal bond ETF to the European market. This launch opens the door to an asset class that until now has been difficult for investors to access. Municipal bonds, or ‘munis' for short, offer higher yields, better average credit ratings and much lower default rates than US investment grade credit. We believe that unusual profile could make them attractive for many income investors."
