Amid Covid surge, Jammu and Kashmir orders closure of all educational institutions till May 15 | India News


SRINAGAR: In view of surging Covid-19 cases, the J&K government on Sunday issued fresh guidelines, ordering shutdown of all universities/colleges and extending closure of schools across the Union territory till May 15, besides outlining other restrictions. The State Executive Committee issued the guidelines after Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu and reviewed the Covid-19 situation in J&K.
“The State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under Section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, hereby orders that all universities and colleges in J&K shall remain closed for imparting on-campus and in-person education to the students till May 15, 2021,” the order said. ....

Universities, colleges and schools closed in J&K till May 15


All students of classes 9th, 10th, 11th declared pass.
With J&K logging 1,526 new Covid cases on Sunday, authorities ordered closure of all universities, colleges and schools in the Union Territory till May 15.
An order issued by the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department said, that after an overall assessment of the situation pertaining to the spread of Covid-19 in J&K, it has been decided that all universities, colleges and schools shall remain closed till May 15 for imparting on-campus/in-person education to the students.
The order further restricts the presence of mourners at funerals to 20, 50 for all kinds of gatherings at indoor venues and 100 for all kinds of gatherings at outdoor venues. ....

Universities in the UAE are slashing fees and offering Ramadan discounts to attract students and ease the financial burden on families.
Last year, higher education institutions delivered significant discounts to mitigate the impact of the outbreak and this trend has continued in 2021.
