Islamabad: The National Technology Council (NTC) will hold a series of webinars on various facets of technology and the latest technological trends amidst the hardships stirred by COVID-19 and the resultant lockdowns. The first webinar of the series, entitled ‘Using Existing Technology to Develop COVID-19 Vaccine in Pakistan’ will be held on May 19, 2021. The webinars will cover topics such as COVID-19 vaccine development, improving solar panel technology to make it user-friendly and aesthetically appealing, automotive technology, and energy-efficient and green building technology, etc.

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin held a meeting with the Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Khusroo Bakhtiyar at the Finance Division to discuss the features of a new credit scheme for the SME Sector. SAPM on Finance & Revenue Dr. Waqar Masood was also present during the meeting. Governor State Bank of Pakistan Reza Baqir joined the meeting through video link.
Governor State Bank of Pakistan briefed the Finance Minister on the proposal for the provision of funds for the small businesses (without collateral) for a tenure up to 3 years through the network of Commercial banks. The banks will design innovative products to reach out to the smaller businesses whereas the government will provide risk sharing facility to the banks, he added. Sindh HEC to award Rs40m scholarships to varsity students

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday said scholarships worth Rs40 million will be awarded to students of public and private universities in the province.
“These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit-cum-need to BS, MS, MPhil and PhD students of public universities and to MS, MPhil and PhD students of private universities during the current financial year.”
Shah presided over a meeting of the Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) and vice chancellors of public universities at the CM House. On the HEC’s recommendation, he also distributed cheques worth Rs25 million among five universities of rural and developing areas to set up information technology labs. ....
