Texas State s administration provided details on the university’s plan for a return to normalcy this fall semester and addressed the benefits of COVID-19 vaccinations during an April 20 virtual Town Hall meeting.
The hour-long broadcast featured University President Denise Trauth, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Gene Bourgeois, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Emilio Carranco and Vice President for Student Affairs Cynthia L. 'Texas State is not an exception': Asian students reflect on lack of campus representation, inclusion

Heather Tran was walking near The Square when she was confronted by three male students pulling at their eyelids to mock her monolid eye shape.
While being mocked and told “This is what white privilege looks like,” Tran got an unnerving feeling and the reassurance that racism was not a hallucination.
“I have faced racism [like] every other minority,” Tran says. “I have faced racism from adults to kids, to people my age and I ve experienced it here at Texas State.Texas State is not an exception.” ....

It took Tafari Robertson two years post-graduation to process the trauma he endured as a student at Texas State.
“In the year [following] everything that happened on campus.I had graduated, but I was still in San Marcos,” Robertson says. “That was just, like, a really rough year for me because it was leaving the activist space. You know, it s hard to look back on and feel like you really did everything you could have.” ....
