Bulgaria's July elections: Machine voting expected in 24 foreign countries


As of May 25, there will be 568 polling stations in 67 foreign countries for Bulgaria’s July early parliamentary elections, the Foreign Ministry said.
According to the analysis of the ministry, voting machines will be used at about 300 of these polling stations, in 24 countries.
A decision by the Central Election Commission in regard to this is awaited.

th National Assembly voted amendments to the Electoral Code, including that at polling stations where more than 300 voters are registered, there must be machine voting. These amendments, as The Sofia Globe reported on April 29, also make it easier to request opening of a polling station abroad. ....

Bulgaria s Foreign Ministry declared another employee of the Russian Embassy in Sofia persona non grata, Radio Liberty reports. His name has not been released.
The ministry noted that together with the expulsion of the diplomat, they appealed to the Russian authorities for assistance in investigating explosions in Bulgarian arms depots, destruction of physical evidence in the fire and poisoning of three Bulgarian citizens in order to identify and bring to justice those who committed it.
The Russian Foreign Ministry promised to respond to the expulsion of its diplomat.

SOFIA Bulgaria says it will expel another Russian diplomat after the country s authorities said they suspected six Russian citizens of involvement in a series of blasts that hit four weapons and armament facilities over the past 10 years.
Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry “declared one more Russian diplomat persona non grata and requested the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation to provide full assistance to the Bulgarian authorities” in their investigation into the blasts, the ministry said in a statement on April 29.
