A Wisconsin man accused of attempted murder after stabbing his girlfriend multiple times has been arrested in Cedar Rapids.
The Gazette reports that 37-year-old Canyon Thixton of Portage had been living under an alias and staying with an un-named woman at a residence in the 3200 block of Kenrich Drive Southwest. Police and US Marshals took Thixton into custody just before 9am Wednesday.
Police were called to a Portage home on September 11
th when a 28-year-old woman reported being stabbed. The woman, later identified as Heather Lemon, told the Portage Daily Register that she had been in a relationship with Thixton for just over a year. He’d returned from a bar, reportedly unable to walk straight, at about 2:45am that day, and later stabbed her while she was sleeping. ....

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa The man suspected of an attempted homicide in Portage in September 2020 has been taken into custody.
Canyon A. Thixton was taken into custody in Cedar Rapids, Iowa shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities said Thixton had been staying with a woman in the area while living under an alias.
According to the Portage Police Department, the victim of the September attack had been awakened by her Thixton as she was being violently attacked with a knife.
Officials said Thixton is facing charges in Iowa. The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office plans to work with Iowan authorities to coordinate extradition to Wisconsin. ....

CEDAR RAPIDS A Wisconsin man accused of stabbing his girlfriend multiple times in the face and neck last September was apprehended Wednesday in the Cedar Rapids area.
Canyon Thixton, 37, of Portage, was arrested on a warrant out of Portage charging him with attempted first-degree homicide.
Cedar Rapids police and the U.S. Marshals Services arrested Thixton shortly before 9 a.m. at a residence in the 3200 block of Kenrich Drive SW in Cedar Rapids, where he had been living under an alias and staying with a woman whose name has not been released.
Police said they had received information regarding Thixton’s whereabouts that led to the arrest. ....

The Cedar Rapids Police Department has revealed in a media release that they were involved in the arrest of a Wisconsin man who has been a fugitive for the last several months. The man was being sought on an attempted murder charge.
