SC to hear Monday plea to scrap Class 12 board exam in coronavirus pandemic


The Supreme Court on Monday will hear a plea seeking its direction to cancel class 12 board exams, responding to a petition that says students would be exposed to Covid-19.
The exams were scheduled for March and were deferred due to a surge in coronavirus cases. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), on April 14, cancelled class 10 exams and deferred for class 12.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by advocate Mamata Sharma came up for hearing before a apex court bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari. The court has asked the petitioner to serve the advance copy of the petition to the CBSE and School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The plea has also sought an alternative ‘objective methodology’ to arrive at Class 12 results. ....

NECO releases 2020 result with 894,101 candidates scores 5 credits in English, Mathematics

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) internals with a total 1,221,447 candidates who registered for the examination.
Addressing Journalists at the Council’s Headquarters yesterday in Minna, the Registrar/CEO, Prof. Godwin Obioma said out of the 1,209,992 candidates that sat for the examination 894,101 made five credits and above including Mathematics and English Language.
Prof. Obioma said out of the candidates that registered for the examination a total of 665,830 were males and 555,617 females.
He revealed that the candidates who made five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics is 894,101 representing 73.89% when compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 829,787 with an increase of 2.3%. ....

NECO releases 2020 June/July SSCE results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has said that about 894,101 candidates made five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics representing 73.89 per cent in the June/ July 2020 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
The registrar/ chief executive of the council, Professor Godswill  Obioma stated this in a press conference on the release of 2020 Senior School Certification Examinations( SSCE) Internal results at the board room of the organisation at its headquarters on Wednesday in Minna, Niger State capital, adding that when compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 829,787 there was an increase of 23 per cent.
He added that the number of candidates who made five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics was 1,112,041, representing 91.91 per cent, stressing that when compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 1,042,989, that there was an increase of 2.01per cent. ....
