The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet tonight with a full house at the Brownwood Coliseum. The audience heard remarks from outgoing Chamber President Cory Howard, of Bruner Auto Group, and incoming President Dustin Larremore, of Farmers Insurance. Larremore announced the hiring of a new Executive Director, Nathan Smith, who will begin his duties at the Chamber on July 14.
The highlight of the banquet every year is the announcing of annual awards. They are as follows:
Ambassador of the Year
This award goes to the leading member of the Chamber Ambassadors group. This year’s award went to Vikki Firth. She has spent countless hours helping Chamber functions such as the Business Expo, Annual Banquet, Corks and Caps, Christmas Under the Stars, Professional Women’s Summit, monthly luncheons, and ribbon cuttings.
The Burn Ban was left off at this time in Brown County.
The COVID Report was given by Lisa Dick with the Brownwood/Brown Co. Health Department.
Commissioners approved the application from IP Radian to install private lines on CR 186, CR 187, and CR 188.
Commissioners approved the use of the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church Connection Center in place of Howard Payne’s University of the purposes of jury selection.
Jennifer McKibben was approved to replace Danielle Jordan as assistant court coordinator, effective June 1.
Lisa Caldwell (
shown left in photo with Judy Brownlee) was approved as a new member to the Brown County Child Welfare Board.
Notice is hereby given that a REGULAR meeting of the above named Court shall be held at
9:00 a.m. on May 24th 2021, in the BROWN COUNTY COURTHOUSE, located at 200 South Broadway, Brownwood Texas, 76801 and shall continue thereafter until such business of the Court has been completed in accordance with Article 81.005 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas. Bangs American Legion Lynn Snow Post 308 recently presented $3,000 in donations to area entities. Those given $500 were Good Samaritan Ministries, The Ark Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter and CASA in the Heart of Texas. $250 donations went to Bangs Volunteer Fire Department, Bangs Cemetery Association, Bangs Food Pantry, Bangs Lions Club, Santa Anna Volunteer Fire Department and the Brown County Child Welfare Board.
