The intellectual, cultural, and academic life of Canada is clearly dominated to a greater extent by “political correctness” than is the case in the United States. Unlike in the U.S., homeschooling is comparatively rare in Canada, there are fewer private schools at the primary and secondary level, and there are very few private, post-secondary institutions. The hundreds of private, more traditional, usually religious-affiliated colleges in the U.S. may allow for the existence of a community of more traditionally-oriented scholars that can have some effect on U.S. politics. Intelligent persons of conservative or traditionalist outlooks are almost completely isolated in Canada, and have almost no hope of achieving the dream of (for example) a tenured academic appointment – or even of finishing a Ph.D. Policies similar to employment equity operate, de jure or de facto, at virtually every Canadian uni ....

In July 2020, soon after the Covid-19 lockdown was lifted, 62-year-old Dukhan Singh fractured his leg when a wall collapsed on him in Ukamar village in Jharkhand’s Latehar district. As a small farmer with a meagre income, he had to borrow more than Rs 10,000 from relatives to pay his hospital bills. He planned to pay off his debts through the pension of Rs 1,000 that he is entitled to receive under a central government welfare scheme for senior citizens. ....

Sethu Samudram project will be revived, says Kanimozhi

DMK MP and senior leader M. K. Kanimozhi said that the Sethu Samudram project would be revived if the DMK came back to power.
Speaking to reporters at a senior party functionary s residence here on Friday, she said that not only the Sethu Samudram, but any other project that was good for the people, would be revived.
The AIADMK and the BJP at the Centre should have completed the project. “Just because, it was conceived when the DMK and the then UPA were in power, the present rulers have given it a burial. The noon meal scheme was established by Kamaraj in Tamil Nadu. When Karunanidhi came to power, he not only enhanced the scheme, but also took it up for more students and across the State”, Ms. Kanimozhi said. ....
