Killyleagh, Northern Ireland Every morning after her prayers, and the first of many mugs of Barry s Irish tea, Nancy Stewart decides where to go to Mass.
When the time comes, the 107-year-old and her granddaughter, Louise Coghlan, 37, joke about preparing sandwiches for the journey, and check that they have money to fill their little red car with fuel. In reality they don t leave the kitchen in Clonard, County Meath; Mass comes to them from the screen of a laptop computer set on a pink floral tray table. ....

107-year-old on a mission to tune into online masses all over the country


At 107 years old, Nancy Stewart has already made history as the oldest woman in Ireland still living in her own home.
But now the native of Clonard, Co Meath, is on a mission to attend online masses in each of the 32 counties before moving on to other parishes outside of Ireland.
She is well on her way, after attending virtual masses two or three times a day in 21 ­counties so far.
News of her spiritual journey has already reached Rome, with an email from the Pontifical Irish College expressing its delight with her faith and inviting her to attend one of its own virtual masses in which she will be given a personal greeting when she tunes in. ....

A former Tullamore based priest has been appointed as the new Archbishop of Dublin.
Pope Francis, has appointed the Most Reverend Dr Dermot Farrell, until now Bishop of Ossory, as Archbishop of Dublin. A Westmeath native, he was appointed Curate in Tullamore Parish in the late 1980s after returning from studying in Rome. 
Born in 1954, he began his studies for the priesthood at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth in 1972, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1976, as part of his philosophical studies.  
During his theological studies he was awarded a Bachelor in Divinity Degree in 1979 and a licence is Theology in 1981, both by the Pontifical University, Maynooth.   ....

THE newly-appointed Archbishop of Dublin Dermot Farrell has been welcomed to the role as he prepares to take on the huge responsibility of shepherding the People of God in Ireland s largest diocese .
Pope Francis appointed Dr Farrell, currently the Bishop of Ossory, to his new post, which he will officially begin on a date in the new year yet to be announced.
The 66-year-old will replace Archbishop, Diarmuid Martin, who is set to retire from the second highest Catholic clerical role in Ireland behind the Archbishop of Armagh. ....
