SLNS Gajabahu takes part in AMAN-2021 exercise in Pakistan

COLOMBO (News 1st): Representing Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Gajabahu took part in the 7th edition of AMAN series hosted by Pakistan this year, Sri Lanka Navy said.
The multi-national maritime exercise AMAN-2021 hosted by Pakistan Navy under the theme ‘Together for Peace’ formally commenced at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard in Karachi, Pakistan on 12th February 2021.
Having seen the customary farewell at the home port on 05th February 2021, SLNS Gajabahu left Colombo for Karachi in Pakistan, to attend AMAN-2021.
AMAN-2021 was held from 12th to 16th February 2021, with the participation of as many as 45 countries from across the world. ....

On Friday last week, at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard in Karachi, the seventh edition of the multinational maritime exercise Aman-2021 officially opened with a flag-hoisting ceremony in which flags from 45 participating countries were simultaneously hoisted.
Navies from 45 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Russia, Turkey, and other Arab and African countries are participating in the week-long Aman-21 exercise. Notably, since 2007, the exercise has taken place every two years.
In the sense of military tensions between China and the US in regions such as the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait, it is unusual for the Chinese and US navies to engage in multilateral exercises. Moreover, it is also a rare opportunity for Russia to join NATO countries in an exercise.  ....

Three Pak Navy officers promoted to Rear Admiral

ISLAMABAD: Three Commodores of Pakistan Navy have been promoted as Rear Admiral with immediate effect.
The promoted officers include Commodore Javed Iqbal, Commodore Muhammad Sohail Arshad and Commodore Salman Ilyas. All three newly promoted rear admirals are recipients of Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and are graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore and National Defence University, Islamabad. The officers have illustrious service career with vast experience of various Command and Staff appointments.
Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal got commission in Weapon Engineering Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1989. He holds Master s degree in (Communication & Electrical Systems) from United Kingdom. His Command appointments include Commanding Officer NPEC and Commander Technical Support (Coastal) Jinnah Naval Base, Ormara. His major staff appointments include Pakistan Navy Technical Liaison Officer at France, Senior Staff Offi ....
