A Bedminster man was given a time-served sentence on charges alleging he assaulted a woman in Plumstead last year. On Thursday, David Charles Wunsch, 53, was sentenced to one year minus one day to two years minus one day in Bucks County Prison, according to Manuel Gamiz Jr., spokesman for the Bucks County District Attorney s Office. Wunsch, who has been in prison for over a year, was eligible for parole and received a time-served sentence. He was also ordered to undergo mental health and alcohol/substance abuse treatment. A PETITION has been launched against plans for a quarry which residents say would ‘destroy beautiful countryside . An application has been submitted to Lancashire County Council for a sand and mineral extraction quarry, to make concreting aggregate, on a greenfield site off the horseshoe bend on the River Ribble at Lower Hall Farm on Potters Lane in Samlesbury. Stephanie Tufft, who lives on the lane, has created the petition to try to block the plan from Harleyford Aggregates Ltd, which has a mineral lease from the owners, the Booth Charities. Large camps don’t work Local Conservative politicians were happy to support this Government’s disastrous policy of creating large camps to house asylum seekers. Home Office minister Kit Malthouse and former Immigration Minister Caroline Nokes were strong advocates “until it came to building one in their own back yard in Barton Stacey. Now they scurry to support Council Leader Phil North’s petition which says that inhumane camps are fine “as long as they are put somewhere else”. Large internment camps are not fine here in Hampshire or anywhere else. Cramming hundreds of people together with inadequate facilities, lack of privacy and poor access to health, legal and social support is something we rightly condemn in other parts of the world.
