The sisterhood of Congregation Beth Aaron, headed by Debbie Sheffey and Gabriellle Silverberg, invited Dr. Michelle Sarna, wife of the UAE Chief Rabbi Yehuda Sarna, to address the community on Zoom this past Sunday evening, January 16. A large group of participants took advantage of this opportunity to hear what is actually happening on the ground across the world with Jewish residents in a Muslim country.
The Jewish presence in the UAE began long before the Abraham Accords were signed. RAJKOT: Three persons died and six others were injured in a head-on collision between two cars near Sonaradi village in Jamnagar district on Monday morning.
The accident took place as the tyre of a car on its way to Dwarka from Ahmedbad bust and it veered on the wrong side and collided with car coming from the opposite direction from a village in Devbhumi Dwarka district around 6am. Police said that a 20-year-old girl from Bhatiya village of Devbhumi Dwarka who was on her way to Khambhaliya for her college exam died on the spot. Other two victims were identified as Dinesh Rabari (30) and Jagdish Desai (32) who were coming from Ahmedabad. ....

A polling agent of Awami League mayoral candidate was sentenced to one year imprisonment for violating the electoral code of conduct in Bogura s Sariakandi municipality election today.
The convict was identified as Shahadat Hossain (30), reports our local correspondent.
He was former joint convener of Sariakandi upazila unit of Chhatra League, confirmed Md Ayub Ali Tarafdar, president of the local Jubo League unit.
Niskriti Hagidak, a senior judicial magistrate of Bogura, sentenced Shahadat, polling agent of AL mayoral candidate Motiur Rahman, to one year imprisonment through a summary trial court for secretly entering a polling booth at Batia Government Primary School and trying to influence voters to cast vote for AL symbol, boat. ....

A case was filed against 40 leaders and activists of BNP for threatening to oust government through an armed movement.
AKM Shamsuzzaman Chowdhury, president of Patiya upazila unit Awami League, filed the case at Patiya Police Station on Saturday midnight, said Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Karim Majumdar.
BNP leaders Enamul Haque Enam, Khorshed Alam, Mafzal Ahmed, Khalilur Rahman Babu, Abdul Monaf, Nurul Absar, Tariqul Islam, and Mohammad Yusuf were among the accused.
According to the case statement, Enam was elected convener of the Patiya upazila unit of BNP. During a views exchange meeting with the leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, he made some provocative remarks, calling for ousting government and urging activists to be prepared with firearms and sticks . ....
