Napier MP Stuart Nash has hit out at Napier mayor Kirsten Wise for publicly stating concerns for the safety of her city, and has suggested her council should enact a gang patch ban instead.
Wise told media this week that people in her city believe they are unsafe. Her comments were published the morning before Outlaws Motorcycle Club member Peter Michael Lui was fatally stabbed in Napier s Pandora industrial area. ....

Wise on course to launch IPO in May at a $6-7 billion valuation: sources

LONDON (Reuters) - British banking fintech Wise formerly Transferwise is on course to launch an initial public offering in May this year in a deal that could value the company at $6 billion-$7 billion, two sources familiar with the situation said.
The company, best known for facilitating cross-border transactions, has appointed Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to manage the deal and is strongly considering London for the venue, the sources said.
A spokeswoman for the company declined to comment.
Such a listing would be a major boost for London as a hub for tech companies, with Moonpig, Trustpilot and Deliveroo already completing listings this year. ....

LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Tuesday visited Corona Vaccination Centre set up at Expo Centre and observed the process of giving vaccination to elderly citizens.
He also reviewed the facilities being provided to the senior citizens who came for vaccination. He also talked to the health workers who were administered the vaccine there and lauded their services. Usman Buzdar also inquired after the aged citizens and asked them about the facilities available for them at the Expo Centre.
They expressed their satisfaction over the facilities being provided to them and said that the Punjab government has made the best arrangements over there. Usman Buzdar said that the first phase of administering vaccine to elderly citizens besides health workers has been started. ....

On Jan. 21, the Johnson City Commission had a workshop, during which Commissioner Brock submitted a proposal for a Community Equity Advisory Board.
Because of the news and social media, we are well aware of your comments, Mayor Wise, saying that âheterosexual white males need not applyâ and that people who do not have the good fortune of experiencing equitable treatment consider participating on boards and commissions at the âadult table.â Commissioners Hunter and Murphy and Vice Mayor Fowler, you appeared to agree that no Community Equity Advisory Board need be created.
Subsequent to this workshop, it was discovered that instructions were given for the police department to provide a discussion of equity and equality at its Community Roundtable. The function of this Roundtable is to develop communication, especially with the young people in the community. The discussion was limited to one hour. ....
