Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Moreno Valley

A man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash in Moreno Valley and the culprit remained at large Sunday.
The man was struck a little before midnight Saturday near the intersection of Fir Avenue and Perris Boulevard, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County Sheriff s Department.
He was identified by the Riverside County coroner s office as Jose Manuel Garcia, 37, of Moreno Valley.
Sheriff s officials said he was struck while crossing Perris Boulevard, south of the intersection, by an older, white two-door Pontiac Grand Am traveling at a high speed northbound on Perris Boulevard. ....

MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A pedestrian who died after being struck by a truck over the weekend in Marlboro County has been identified.
According to Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown, the victim is Christopher Poe, of McColl.
Brown could not give the victim’s age because he said the South Carolina Highway Patrol has his driver’s license.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on S.C. 38 near Strickland Road in the Blenheim area, authorities said. ....

UPDATE: Police blame poor visibility for the Feb. 6 crash and said the driver showed no signs of being impaired.
A pedestrian was killed early Saturday, Feb. 6, in a crash that closed down Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard south of the Ross Island Bridge.
The victim has been identified as Joshua Gray Stanley, 34, of Portland. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. There were no citations or charges.
Police blamed poor visibility for the crash.
The investigation determined that the car, a 2015 Toyota Corolla, driven by an adult female, was proceeding southbound McLoughlin Boulevard when the pedestrian, an adult male, was likely crossing to the west side of the road when he was struck, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement Saturday. The location was not a crosswalk and not well lit. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing. ....

Safe highway crossing helps reconnect Jimboomba

A new safe crossing of busy Mount Lindesay Highway is the first step in Logan City Council’s $2 million upgrade of the Jimboomba Town Centre.
The new crossing links Ann Street on the eastern side of the highway with Cusack Lane and the Town Centre on the western side.
The Jimboomba Safe Crossing utilises the former Beaudesert railway underpass which has been revitalised with pathway decking, railings, lighting and safety cameras.
The opening of the Safe Crossing is an outcome from the 2019 Council-run Jimboomba Summit.
Economic Development Chair, Deputy Mayor Jon Raven said the Safe Crossing was a much-needed boost for Jimboomba. ....
