A study has revealed people in KwaZulu-Natal, the second most populous province, and the Eastern Cape, one of the poorest provinces, suffered the most from hunger during the pandemic. File image.

Almost half (46%) of adult South Africans surveyed late last year said their households “often had to go hungry during the Covid-19 pandemic as we did not have enough money for food”.
The study was conducted by Ipsos on behalf of the Centre for Social Development in Africa based at the University of Johannesburg. ....

Nearly 7,000 traffic violations recorded in Cebu City in first half of April

THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) issued 6,849 traffic citation tickets to violators from April 1-15, 2021.
This is 532 more than the number of traffic citation tickets issued in the same period last month. CCTO issued 6,317 tickets in March 2021.

According to CCTO, common traffic violations in April include overloading, no stopping anytime, parking on sidewalks, disregarding traffic signs, and defective plate lights and headlights, among others.
In the same period in April, CCTO also impounded 10 e-bikes, one traysikad, nine four-wheeled vehicles, one tricycle, one public utility jeepney, eight dump trucks, and two canter trucks.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Gov. Steve Sisolak has order flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the victims of last night s mass shooting in Indianapolis.
The order will remain in place until Tuesday.
Police say a gunman shot and killed eight people inside a FedEx ground facility. Several others were hurt, as well.
The 19-year-old gunman, who was a former employee, shot and killed himself.
