Shreveport man who beat, strangled wife gets 10-year prison sentence

SHREVEPORT, La. A Shreveport man with a long history of domestic violence pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court this week and must serve a decade behind bars.
Caddo District Judge Chris Victory handed down the 10-year term for a fourth-offense domestic battery to Jevorish Dewayne Dennis, 32, who admitted the abuse Monday in Victory s court.
Dennis was arrested after Shreveport police responded to a 911 call at a local motel and found the victim distraught and covered in mud. She said Dennis, her husband of two years, had hit her with a stick, punched her in the jaw, threw her to the ground and strangled her. ....

Apr. 20 The Boise Police Department on Monday told the Idaho Statesman it is investigating an allegation of sexual misconduct against an Idaho House Republican.
Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger, R-Lewiston, was accused of sexual misconduct by a woman he described as an adult volunteer on the legislative staff. A panel of House members found probable cause in an ethics complaint of inappropriate sexual conduct submitted by House Republican leaders last month. Von Ehlinger has denied the allegation.
Haley Williams, spokesperson for BPD, told the Statesman on Monday that BPD has an open investigation into these allegations. Williams said BPD began the investigation in March. ....

A Passaic man sexually assaulted a pre-teen at least twice over the past few months, authorities charged.
Quirino Rojas, 37, remained held Monday in the Passaic County Jail on two counts each of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.
Special Victims Unit detectives interviewed the youngster after city police were called on Saturday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Louis A. Guzman said in a joint announcement Monday.
“The victim reported being sexually abused by [Rojas] on multiple occasions between the ages of 12 and 13 years old at a residence in Passaic between January and April of 2021,” their release says. ....

Child molestation investigation underway at local summer camp
ATLANTA (WGCL) Disturbing news out of southwest Atlanta, police are investigating multiple incidents of child molestation at the West End Family Life and Community Center on Donnelly Avenue.
“This case is heartbreaking because the people entrusted to protect children, our most vulnerable population, violated their trust, and harmed innocent children,” APD Special Victims Unit Commander Lt. Felicia Claxton said.
The incidents occurred here at the West End Center Camp between 2016-2018. Police have identified multiple victims under the age of 12 and have a suspect in custody.
“Today we are hoping to identify possible victims and anyone with any information or witness to inappropriate behavior by any of the camp personnel,” Claxton said. ....
