West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner was 'honoured' to serve the region

WEST Yorkshire’s police and crime commissioner has spoken of the “immense honour” he has felt serving the people of Keighley and the region.
Mark Burns-Williamson’s role has come to an end, with the commissioner duties being picked-up by the new West Yorkshire mayor – who will be revealed following today s count.
He was first elected to the police and crime commissioner post in 2012 and then re-elected four years later.
“I am proud of what has been achieved,” he said.
“It has been a really varied, interesting and at times challenging role – covering community safety and support for victims and working with criminal justice, local government and many other valued community partners, as well as providing strategic policing governance and making tough decisions through austerity and other difficult times. ....

Grants program overseen by Peter Dutton now under auditor-general investigation

Australia s auditor-general is investigating the administration of a community grants program overseen by Peter Dutton.
Auditor-general Grant Hehir on Wednesday wrote to Labor Senator Kristina Keneally to confirm the audit is taking place after she requested a review of the program, the Safer Communities Fund.
The fund came under scrutiny earlier this year after it was revealed Mr Dutton, then the home affairs minister, had rejected his department s advice when he reduced funding from some applications and diverted it to other projects, at least one of which was in his Brisbane electorate.
Mr Dutton - now the defence minister - has strongly denied any wrongdoing and defended his management of the program. ....
