MoD plans for Tidworth fence refused by Wiltshire Council


Plans to build a 10m high fence in the middle of Tidworth have been thrown out following objections by residents.
The Ministry of Defence had submitted plans for the fence around the sports ground on Pennings Road, which would have covered three sides backing onto highways. Residents had objected to the plans, with Tidworth’s mayor having called the plans in.
Following consideration by the council, the plans have now been refused.
Mark Connolly, Mayor of Tidworth, welcomed the rejection of the fence, saying: “The fencing would have looked horrendous in the open area in the centre of the town. ....

Arts programme draws to a close after busy few weeks


AN ARTS programme aimed at giving creatives a platform to showcase new material in the pandemic is drawing to a close.
The final events of Shetland Arts’ Refresh Now programme will take place next week.

A Life of Wir Choosin will be broadcast online at 7pm tonight (Friday), while a live performance from noise-laden music outfit Grimlok will be shown at 9pm on Saturday.

Claremont driving tour has Craftsman, Victorian architecture


Claremont, on the eastern edge of L.A. County, is home to historic architecture along its streets and on the campuses of the Claremont Colleges. It’s a good time for a driving tour of city landmarks while students are home, taking classes online. All those empty parking spots mean you can also explore on foot.
