In Tamil Nadu yesterday (14 February), Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the first Arjun Mark 1A tanks, a much upgraded version of the indigenously-developed Arjun main battle tank (MBT), to the Indian Army.

In a big boost for the domestic defence manufacturing sector and the capabilities of the Indian Army, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will be dedicating to the nation tomorrow (14 February) the latest version of Arjun Mark1A battle tank which has been developed indigenously by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), reports

PM Modi will be dedicating the first unit of the latest version of the Arjun tank at the Avadi-based tank production unit of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) s Heavy Vehicles Factory in Chennai.
The development comes as the Defence Ministry in a recent high-level-meeting had cleared the induction of 118 Arjun Mark1A tanks worth about Rs 8,400 crore to add to the strengths of the Indian Army. ....

In yet another boost for Make in India in defence sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Main Battle Tank Arjun Mark1A to the nation on Sunday.
In a high-level meeting, the Defence Ministry recently cleared the induction of 118 Arjun Mark1A tanks into the Indian Army which will cost around Rs 8,400 crore and add to the strength of the force in land warfare.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be dedicating the latest version of the Arjun tank to the nation on February 14 in Chennai at the tank production facility in Avadi, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officials told ANI. ....

India’s twin-engine deck based fighter, being developed to replace Russian-origin MiG-29Ks, is likely to be ready by 2026.
Work on India’s twin-engine deck based fighter (TEDBF), which will operate from the Indian Navy’s current and future aircraft carriers, is on track, Vinod Kumar, the project director for the programme, has said.
The TEDBF is being developed to replace Russian-origin MiG-29Ks.
In an interview to journalist Anantha Krishnan M, Kumar said the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has received inputs from the Navy and worked out two configurations which satisfy most of the requirements. ....

India Develops Indigenous 9 MM Machine Pistol

The Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced that the Indian Army and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) have jointly developed India’s first indigenous 9 mm machine pistol. An MoD statement released on January 14 noted, “Infantry School, Mhow and DRDO’s Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune have designed and developed this weapon using their respective expertise in the complementary areas.”
Describing the development of “Asmi” – as the new personal defense weapon has been christened – the MoD said: “The weapon has been developed in a record time of four months. The Machine Pistol fires the in-service 9mm ammunition and sports an upper receiver made from aircraft grade Aluminium and lower receiver from carbon fibre.” ....
