Cape Cod students signing up for in-school COVID-19 vaccinations


Hundreds of Cape students age 12 and older have signed up for school-based COVID-19 vaccination clinics being offered over the next two weeks, local health and education officials said.
Barnstable County is supplying first doses of the Pfizer vaccine for clinics in several Cape school districts, starting Thursday at Monomoy Regional High School, Barnstable County Public Health Nurse Deirdre Arvidson said.
She said the county hopes to dispense 1,100 to 1,200 first doses in Cape schools between now and early June.
As of Tuesday, 159 people had signed up for the Monomoy clinic, 146 for a clinic being put on by the Nauset Regional School District and 103 for a Friday clinic at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, for which registration was just made available Monday, Arvidson said. ....

Cape Cod calls for more vaccinations, shots limited for 75 and over


FALMOUTH Jim Sexton of Truro had a big smile behind his blue facial mask after receiving the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine during a regional vaccination clinic Wednesday at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds.
But the 75-year-old said he would’ve felt even happier if more of his friends knew when they would be vaccinated.  
“We’re thrilled to be able to get through all the red tape of logging in and making an appointment. That was an ordeal,” Sexton said.
“It was the luck of the draw. I feel for our friends” who haven’t found an appointment, he said. ....

PROVINCETOWN COVID-19 vaccines became available at Stop & Shop pharmacies in Orleans, Harwich and Hyannis for all Phase 1 groups and those 75 years or older starting Jan. 27, according to an announcement from Provincetown Health Director Morgan Clark. 
Appointments are required, and often are difficult to get, based on supply. County officials say that additional vaccine doses are expected in the next few weeks.
The Phase 1 group includes healthcare workers, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, first responders, staff and residents of congregate facilities and home-based health workers, according to the announcement.
Those 75 and up are in the top priority group of Phase 2. ....

Stop & Shop pharmacies added to list of vaccination sites on Cape


The state Department of Public Health has added Stop & Shop pharmacies in Hyannis, Harwich and Orleans to a map of Cape Cod vaccination sites for people in phase one of the state s COVID-19 vaccination rollout.
The new listings bring the number of vaccination sites on the map to seven. Also vaccinating people in phase one are Walgreens in Mashpee and Hyannis and the CVS in South Yarmouth.
A regional site at the Orleans Department of Public Works also is listed on the map, but two clinics scheduled at that location for people in phase one filled up within hours of registration opening Friday. ....

Individuals ages 75 and over can visit www.mass.gov/COVIDVaccineMap to start booking an appointment for vaccine beginning Monday.
A map with all available locations is available at www.mass.gov/COVIDVaccineMap. Residents should visit the website, find a convenient location, and schedule an appointment online.
Have your important information with you, such as your insurance card, and fill out the self-attestation form, which will need to be presented at your appointment.
