Silver Alert - Farmington Police Seeking Stephen Salisbury

According to a press release from the Maine State Police, the Farmington Police Department has issued a silver alert for Stephen Salisbury. Stephen Salisbury is 79 years old from Farmington Maine. He is described as a white male approximately 6 2 tall and weighing about 135 lbs. He has blue eyes and grey hair.
According to the Farmington Police he was last seen on March 11th, 2021 at approximately 3:44 p.m. at his residence on 153 Galilee Rd in Farmington.
Police indicate that it is possible he is traveling in a red Toyota Corolla that has a Maine license plate of 9894NA.
Mr. Salisbury suffers from Dementia and may be trying to get to New Hampshire. ....

Man Dead Following Fatal Farmington Fire
The State of Maine has recorded another fatal fire.
According to a press release from the Maine State Police, one man is dead following a Saturday morning fire in Farmington.
The 911 call came into the Franklin County Emergency Communications Center on the morning of Saturday, February 27th, 2021. The call reported a fire at 160 Clover Mills Road in Farmington. Firefighters and and emergency medical personnel were quickly dispatched to the residence.
The press release says, in part:
Initial responders determined that two people were inside of the residence at the time of the fire. One person, an adult female, was able to exit the residence and was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital for treatment. The other occupant of the residence was eventually located by emergency personnel but did not survive the fire. ....

Bone chilling cold experienced in Minnesota this weekend led me to put on some earmuffs and wonder who invented them. Following research of sources including the Farmington, Maine and Franklin County, Maine websites here is the story.
A farm boy turned his blue collar roots into inventing earmuffs in the winter of 1873. Chester Greenwood lived in Farmington, Maine. According to accounts Greenwood dropped out of school to work on his family s farm.
He would walk 8 miles delivering eggs to people. At age 15 Greenwood was going to a nearby pond to try out a new pair of ice skates. His ears were so cold he turned back and ran home. Determined to go skating he took some baling wire and formed a loop on each end. Then he brought the wire and some beaver fur to his grandmother to have her sew onto those loops. He slipped the device over his head and went skating. ....
