Politicians should stop mouthing platitudes and get serious on social housing

I am so fed up with the mayor, borough mayors, councillors trotting out false sentiments of helping the homeless, promising affordable housing for seniors and low income families. There already exists a âcensusâ for the homeless (commissioned a few years ago). What happened to that?
Regardless, the Eventide Home on St. Jacques next to the Elmhurst Dairy has been sitting vacant for more years than I can remember. Owned by the Salvation Army, I believe. There must be many more existing, vacant buildings that could be renovated to house those who desperately need shelter.
To all politicians: stop mouthing platitudes and do something about affordable housing. ....

LONDON: viewers online were horrified to see viral footage of a man allegedly pouring cow urine into the mouth of a woman with a ventilator suffering from COVID-19, foreign media reported.
According to ABP Live, the shocking video was initially posted on Twitter by Surat General Secretary Kishor Bindal of India s Bharatiya Janata Party last week. The video was subsequently deleted after it amassed nearly 80,000 views but was later uploaded to Reddit.
In the video, an unidentified man holding a bottle filled with yellow liquid is standing over an older woman struggling to breathe on a ventilator. The man then begins to pour the liquid into her mouth. He also tries to speak to her, but due to the noise from nearby hospital equipment, it is not clear what he says. ....

Apportionment is the process of distributing 435 seats in the House of Representatives among the 50 states based on population counts.
It s a process that impacts your voice in Congress, and one that has New York State on quite the losing streak.
Since 1950 New York State had lost two or more congressional seats each time census data was released, or every ten years. According to information from the United Stats Census Bureau New York has moved from 43 seats in 1950 all the way down to 27 seats in 2010.
It does take away our voice in Congress , says Shawn Donahue, who is a Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University at Buffalo. If we are losing seats it means those seats are going somewhere else. A lot of seats have been going to California, Texas, Florida and Arizona. ....
