West valley schools: Assistance League consistently supports district students

For many years, Assistance League Coachella Valley has assisted children and families in the Palm Springs Unified School District with clothing, books, scholarships, food and other supplies. While this year’s COVID-19 pandemic caused some changes in how and where distributions were handled, the local group of women who are part of a nationwide 120-chapter organization, have been busier than ever providing these services to not only PSUSD but the valley’s other two school districts, local seniors and military families.
“Our chapter serve over 8,000 people annually,” said Assistance League Coachella Valley President Jill Beighley. “We provide new school clothes to disadvantaged children, address literacy through book distributions, award funds to high school students studying the performing arts, help students in homeless situations, serve seniors in local nursing homes and assist
