Value of capital grants doubles in revised Countryside Stewardship
10 February 2021 |
Funding threshold for capital-only grants under CS has increased to £20,000 per funding group
Farmers can apply for a wider range of capital grants, including to help improve air quality, through the latest round of the Countryside Stewardship scheme (CS) which has now opened.
The maximum level of funding available for the different groups of capital-only grants has also risen from £10,000 to £20,000.
Defra has revealed that a key change this year is a bigger range of capital items will be offered to farmers under a new Capital Grants offer, designed to sit alongside the simplified Wildlife Offers.

The council leader defended a £12m refurbishment scheme The leader of Haringey Council has defended a £12 million revamp of a listed building that was branded a “vanity project” by opposition councillors. Cllr Joseph Ejiofor said the project to renovate the Civic Centre in Wood Green will provide a “dynamic civic hub” and “community spaces that benefit residents across the borough”. The planned refurbishment of the Grade II-listed building is designed to provide modern, energy-efficient offices and civic space that will cut carbon emissions and running costs. But the Lib Dems called on the council to axe the project and spend the money on helping communities recover and rebuild after the Covid-19 pandemic.
THE Mail s readers have slammed Prime Minister Boris Johnson s decision on Friday to close all travel corridors. The move comes in an effort to protect the UK against new coronavirus strains, ending the quarantine exemption for arrivals from selected nations. He told a Downing Street press conference: “It’s precisely because we have the hope of that vaccine and the risk of new strains coming from overseas that we must take additional steps now to stop those strains from entering the country. “Yesterday we announced that we’re banning flights from South America and Portugal and to protect us against the risk from as-yet-unidentified strains we will also temporarily close all travel corridors from 0400 on Monday.
