GUWAHATI: The government on Wednesday made Covid-19 tests mandatory for people entering the state, but Assam remains vulnerable as two points along the border with West Bengal, Srirampur and Chagolia-Boxirhat motor vehicles check gates are open for the entry of truck drivers and their associates without any compulsory Covid-19 screening.
As per the Assam government’s revised rules on account of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, all incoming people are meant to undergo the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and the RT-PCR test on arrival. ....

Central Institute of Technology declared a containment zone in Assam | Guwahati News

GUWAHATI: Assam in the last 24 hours reported 27 new Covid-19 cases, and among the infected are five students of the Central Institute of Technology (CIT). The Kokrajhar district administration promptly declared the entire CIT complex as a containment zone last evening.
This is the highest number of positive cases detected in the last 10 days in the state, but the positivity rate still continues to remain under 1%.
The five students of CIT were detected positive on Thursday during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at the RNB Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar.
Bihung Brahma, dean (I/C) Student Affairs, CIT told TOI, “On Thursday 490 students underwent RAT and no one tested positive fortunately.” Brahma said as per the administration order, no entry and exit of people will be allowed, and vehicular movement will be strictly prohibited. ....
