Maoists kill 15-year-old in Sukma. His crime: Kin work in forces | India News

RAIPUR: Maoists on Monday murdered two youngsters in Sukma, including a 15-year-old boy, because they have close family members in the security forces. They accused the child of being a police informant, beat him savagely and slit his throat on Sunday night. Five persons, including two off-duty cops, have been murdered in Sukma in the past five days.
Sunday’s killings took place in Milapalli region of Jagargunda area, barely 20km from the site where Maoists ambushed security forces on April 3, killing 22 and injuring 32.
The 15-year-old, Madkam Arjun, was targeted because his brother is a jawan in CRPF’s Bastariya Battalion, said police. The other victim, 21-year-old Taati Hadma, was accused of helping police. His father was an assistant constable, but had quit the force a year ago due to Maoist threats and returned to his village. ....

The Chhattisgarh government on Monday said the kin of the state police personnel, who were killed in an encounter with Naxals over the last weekend in the Bastar region, will be given minimum financial assistance of Rs 80 lakh.
Along with the financial assistance, one member of the family of each martyred personnel will also be entitled to compassionate appointments in government jobs, an official said.
Fourteen out of the 22 security personnel, killed in the gunfight with Naxals between Jonaguda and Tekalguda villages along the border of Sukma and Bijapur districts on Saturday, belonged to state police forces. ....

Chhattisgarh Naxal attack: Amit Shah to attend review meeting, meet injured

will arrive in Chhattisgarh on Monday to chair a high-level meeting in connection with the Naxal attack in the state s Bastar region that claimed the lives of 22 security personnel, a senior official said.
Shah will reach the Jagdalpur airport (in Bastar district) at around 10.35 am, following which he will attend the wreath-laying ceremony to pay respect to the martyred personnel at the Police Lines here, he said.
It will be Shah s first visit to the Bastar region after assuming the charge of Union home minister, he said.
In Jagdalpur, the wreath would be laid on the mortal remains of 14 security personnel, while tributes would be paid to the other deceased jawans at the Bijapur district headquarters, the official said. ....
