Palo Pinto awards bids for courthouse, JP roof projects

Vinmark Roofing and Construction of Mineral Wells was awarded the Palo Pinto County Courthouse and Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace projects Monday morning.
Owner of Vinmark, Vincent Hernandez, said their business is family-owned and all his team members reside in Palo Pinto County.
âWe have worked on a few prominent projects, like the Crazy Water Hotel, and other commercial projects,â Hernandez said during the public comments portion of Mondayâs regular meeting. âWith us being local, we can be here at a momentâs notice and just want to let you know that choosing to work with Vinmark is choosing Palo Pinto County. This is our home and we plan to establish ourselves as a premium roof company.â ....

With many questions still surrounding the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, Palo Pinto County officials are desperately reaching out for help to get more.
âWeâve been working, reaching out to anybody we can to try to find out about getting more vaccine and I hope you all realize the shortage that there is nationwide,â Palo Pinto County Judge Shane Long said at this weekâs commissioners court meeting. âI was on a conference call with the department of emergency management and also the department of state health services last week and this week I think weâre supposed to be getting 332,000 doses for the entire state of Texas, which when youâre talking about 29 million people is not much.â ....

Palo Pinto going out for bids on courthouse roof replacement

Following the rejection of bids on Dec. 14, Palo Pinto County is rebidding the courthouse roof as a replacement-only project.
âWe went out for bids and then rejected those bids at last commissioners court,â Palo Pinto County Judge Shane Long said at Mondayâs regular meeting. âI donât think we have any option but to go out for bids again.â
In the initial bids that came in, two were for repairing the courthouse roof, $50,701 and $58,815, and one was for replacement at $112,701.
âWe all understood it was to repair or replace the roof and then when we came down to it, some gentleman was talking about replacing and then two gentlemen said repair, so we need to make sure on if we want to repair or we want to replace it, that way we donât have this discussion again,â Precinct 4 Commissioner Jeff Fryer said. ....
