Binay backs doctors group's call to convert hotels into temporary hospital facilities – Manila Bulletin

Binay said she considers the proposal as practical given the projected increases and the recent surge in COVID-19 cases that have already weakened the entire healthcare system and caused many hospitals in Metro Manila to reach full capacity.
“I fully support the recommendation of the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) to convert select hotels into temporary hospital facilities for mild to moderate COVID positive patients,” Binay said in a statement.
“Our health workers already feel overwhelmed and many facilities are already overly packed with people seeking immediate medical care,” she stressed. ....

US Climate Envoy commends UAE projects ahead of Regional Dialogue

The US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, has been visiting several of the UAE’s clean energy projects before today s first Regional Climate Dialogue in Abu Dhabi.
On Saturday, Kerry toured the world’s largest single-site solar site, Noor Abu Dhabi, with Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.
He also visited Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and Jubail Mangrove Park.
The day’s activities included a tour of other key solar installations, including Shams 1, one of the largest concentrated solar power plants in the world, where US Special Envoy for Climate Kerry was briefed on the upcoming 2 GW Al Dhafra Solar Project, which recently set a new record for the lowest solar power tariff at 1.35 cents/kWh. ....

NCMS issues UAE weather warning

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) issued a yellow weather warning for the UAE on Saturday afternoon, advising us to be aware of the prevailing conditions including fresh winds and dust storms.
The Centre has cautioned us of fresh winds present on Saturday until 8pm, coming from a west north-westerly direction, with speeds up to 40 kilometres per hour.
Dust and sandstorms may be be present at times with reduced visibility.
There are rough seas along the Gulf coast, with swells reaching seven feet. ....

Abu Dhabi Sports Council organised the initiative to support the 10th anniversary of Operation Smile UAE.
Sponsored by Sheikha Al Yazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, and organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the race was held to support children with cleft lip.
Operation Smile UAE provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the world.
One life-changing surgery can be performed for every AED880 raised.
Runners and walkers were able to choose the option of either a 10km, 5km or 2.5km event.
