According to information published by Bahrain News Agency on February 15, 2021, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, a ceremony was held today to inaugurate Bahrain’s warships, namely the “RBNS Al-Zubara”, “Al-Areen”, “Mashhoor”, “Al-Daibal”, “Askar”, “Jaw”, “Al-Hidd” and “Taghleeb”, marking the kingdom’s celebrations of the BDF’s 53rd anniversary.

According to information published by the U.S. Navy on February 13, 2021, the Italian Navy flagship, the aircraft carrier ITS Cavour (CVH 550), arrived at Naval Station Norfolk, Va. on February 13, 2021, for a series of operations alongside U.S. military assets to attain the Italian Navy’s “Ready for Operations” certification to safely land and launch F-35B aircraft.

According to a contract published by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) on February 11, 2021, Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding division, Newport News, Virginia, is awarded a $13,435,247 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for engineering and technical design effort to support research and development concept formulation for current and future submarine platforms.

Turkey: First launch of indigenous ULAQ Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle

ARES Shipyard and Meteksan Defence, which had initiated Turkey’s first indigenous Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (AUSV) program in October 2020, announced that the prototype vessel, ULAQ AUSV has been launched and sea trials have been started.
