The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has kicked off its new Qatari Women s Affairs Series with a discussion titled: Are Women Set for the Upcoming Shura Council Elections?
The first webinar in the series focused on Qatar s upcoming Shura Council elections in October 2021 and women s participation in them, as a major milestone that will yield future outcomes not only within the country, but the entire region. After the elections, the power of the country s highest legislative body will be expanded in accordance with the Qatari Constitution, it was explained in a statement. ....

Qatar- QRCS provides food, nonfood aid for 27,000 Ethiopian refugees in Sudan


(MENAFN - Gulf Times) The representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Sudan has completed Phase 1 of an emergency response to the recent influx of Ethiopian refugees from the war-ravaged Tigray Region of Ethiopia.
Food and nonfood aids were distributed to thousands of refugees facing severe conditions at the Tunaydbah refugee camp, Gadarif State.
The distributions included 2,500 food parcels, each containing 44kg of food items like flour, rice, lentils, tea, salt, and vegetable oil, as well as 2,000 hygiene kits. In total, these provisions were received by 4,500 refugee families, or an average of 27,000 beneficiaries.
According to QRCS, these were part of Phase 1 of the project, which involves multiple sectors at a total cost of QR6,681,818. It is planned to distribute another 1,000 food parcels to be shipped from Qatar later this month, sending the overall number of food parcels to 3,500. ....

ISLAMABAD: The federal government informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that people with bags full of currency notes are sitting in Islamabad, for buying votes of the parliamentarians for the upcoming elections to Upper House of the Parliament (Senate), while the apex court asked the electoral body to define the spirit of proportional representation.
A five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Ijazul Ahsen resumed hearing into the presidential reference.
Attorney General Khalid Javed submitted that although the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in its fresh report stated that it had asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to see the transfer of money, but this time, the money would not be transferred from the SBP. ....
