An online petition started this week calling for RTÉ to scrap broadcasting the Angelus.

RTÉ HAS SAID it has no plans to cease broadcasting the Angelus, and said it aims to strike a balance in considering the “diversity of views” on the matter while fulfilling its obligations to “reflect the rich and diverse religious culture in Ireland”.
It also said that polling it has recently commissioned on the topic has shown a majority of people are in favour of the Angelus continuing to be broadcast. ....

Positive GDP recorded for third quarter of 2020

The Census and Statistics Department has released estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current price and at constant (2010) price in Production approach and other macroeconomic indicators for the third quarter (01 July to 30 September) of 2020.
The Department stated that in the third quarter, a 1.5% of positive growth rate was recorded in the economy for the first time for the year 2020 as the public returned to the new-normality and carry out business activities.
They noted that these records reflect the great recovery of the economy after the contraction in the economy in the first and second quarters of 2020
Accordingly, overall Agriculture and manufacturing activities and many of the service activities including wholesale and retail trade, goods and land passenger transport, IT industry, telecommunication industry, financial and insurance services, real estate activities, professional services, and private health service ....
