On May 3, the same day memberships for Hilliard’s two city pools went on sale to residents, city officials announced that several other summer activities are expected to resume this year.
Summer in the City will include a fireworks display July 3, as well as activities at Hilliard’s Station Park.
“(We are) thrilled to be getting back to some normalcy with the Summer in the City series, Hilliard Recreation and Parks Department director Ed Merritt said. It was important for us to find safe ways for the community to connect with friends and family. ....

Hilliard announces return of Fourth of July fireworks, other summer events

HILLIARD, Ohio The city of Hilliard announced returning events for its “Summer in the City” series on Monday.
The city plans to bring back its annual Independence Day celebration, “Freedom Fest,” on July 3.
Events like “Friday Flicks,” “Sprouts Night Out,” and “Wheels and Waffles” are also expected to come back in the summer.
Hilliard has worked to follow the guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health, Franklin County Public Health, and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.
“The City is thrilled to be getting back to some normalcy with the Summer in the City series,” said Park and Recreation Director Ed Merritt. “It was important for us to find safe ways for the community to connect with friends and family.” ....

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated economic, health divides in area


Those who have had flexibility of work and who could work from home were
 better off than those who were already struggling, who didn t have the same flexibility, and who lost jobs and fell further and further behind, said Aaron Schill, director of data and mapping for the MId-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), which released the briefs on Tuesday.
That is especially true for people of color and low-income residents, he said.
How do we think about the long-term recovery for the region? Schill said.
The MORPC briefs are designed to help the region recover from COVID-19 and its lasting impacts.
