MUNCIE, Ind. A defiant Brady Allen Turner was sentenced Wednesday to 60 years in prison for fatally stabbing an acquaintance.
I m here today to tell you I will maintain my innocence until the day I die, the 27-year-old Muncie man told Delaware Circuit Court 4 Judge John Feick, who imposed the prison term.
The victim suffered a fatal stab wound in the throat while fighting with Turner on East 15th Street.
While testifying at the trial, Turner maintained that he had acted in self defense, saying Burgess during earlier confrontations had threatened him and fired a gun at him. ....

MUNCIE, Ind. A Muncie resident who fatally stabbed an acquaintance nearly three years ago was found guilty of murder on Friday.
A Delaware Circuit Court 4 jury deliberated for about two hours before returning a guilty verdict in the case of Brady Allen Turner, 27.
Testimony during the week-long trial indicated Turner fatally stabbed Chris Eugene Burgess Jr., 27, also of Muncie, as they fought on East 15th Street on Sept. 17, 2018.
Turner who testified Thursday that Burgess during earlier confrontations had threatened him and at one point fired a gun at him was not in the courtroom Friday when Judge John Feick ran the guilty verdict. ....

MUNCIE, Ind. A Muncie resident testified Thursday that a man he fatally stabbed had earlier shot and threatened him.
Brady Allen Turner, 27, is charged with murder in the September 2018 stabbing death of Chris Eugene Burgess Jr.
City police said the 27-year-old Burgess was mortally wounded as he fought with Turner on East 15th Street. Testimony at this week s Delaware Circuit Court 4 trial indicated a knife wound in his throat resulted in the victim s jugular vein being severed.
Turner called to the stand by defense attorney Tony Sisson on Thursday described a deteriorating relationship with Burgess, with whom he had been acquainted for a few weeks. ....

MUNCIE, Ind. A jury was being selected Monday in the Delaware Circuit Court 4 trial of a Muncie man charged with murder.
Brady Allen Turner, now 27, is accused of fatally stabbing Chris Eugene Burress Jr. during a confrontation on East 15th Street on Sept.17, 2018.
Turner stood trial on the murder charge in November 2019, but that Delaware Circuit Court 4 jury was unable to reach a verdict.
When he testified during the first trial, Turner maintained he believed his life was in danger when he stabbed the 27-year-old Burress, who he said had earlier threatened to kill him. ....
