Coronavirus in one state (155)

Coronavirus in one state (155)
In the words of John Lennon, war is over (if you want it) the war in this case being the war on COVID-19. The public health emergency is over and yet governors such as Minnesota’s egregious Tim Walz continue to control the “dials” of our lives, as the authorities here refer to them. They have us fighting on like Japanese soldiers who haven’t heard that the Emperor surrendered.
Kevin Roche promulgated 11 theses regarding the epidemic here last week. These are Kevin’s 11 theses:
1, CV-19 is a serious public health problem, it causes a lot of serious disease and deaths. Is it as bad as portrayed in the media? No. Cases and deaths are counted in an unprecedented way. If we did the same thing with influenza, I think the two pathogens would look pretty similar. And CV-19 appears to be very substitutive of influenza; it kills a lot of people who otherwise would die of influenza. ....

Having awaited the courtesy of a reply for eight days, I found it anti-climactic yesterday to receive the mostly unresponsive answers to my questions submitted to the Minnesota Department of Health in the early morning hours of February 1:
1. Question: Please provide the data you have compiled bearing one way or the other on the effectiveness of your 5-point plan to reduce spread of the epidemic in long-term care facilities and other congregate care settings.
2. Question: The current executive order requires the wearing of masks for youth sports. No such requirement is imposed on college athletes. Please explain the disparate treatment. ....

PLSAS elementary students to transition back to classroom Jan. 19

Prior Lake-Savage Area elementary students are tentatively scheduled to return to in-person learning using a rolling start beginning Jan. 19, according to an email from Superintendent Teri Staloch sent to parents Thursday evening.
The plans to return to in-person learning come the day after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced modified coronavirus restrictions which allows elementary students to return to classrooms in-person, full-time, as long as they follow health and safety requirements.
“The governor also announced that middle and high schools are to follow the original protocols listed in the Safe Learning Plan and school districts must continue to work with Regional Support Teams to determine their learning models,” Staloch said in the email. “In addition, new virus mitigation requirements for all schools operating in In-Person or Hybrid Learning were announced, designed to keep students, families and staff safe.” ....
