British lawmakers and diplomats stationed in London have paid their profound homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s commitment to upholding Bangabandhu’s secular, progressive and pluralistic values in sustaining Bangladesh’s growth and prosperity.
They also paid deep homage to the martyrs, biranganas and the valiant freedom fighters of 1971 War of Liberation.
Apart from eminent British parliamentarians, senior UK foreign office officials, Ambassadors and recipients of Friends of Liberation War Honour were present at the programme hosted by British High Commission in London recently marking the glorious Victory Day. ....

On January 1, 1973 Britain joined the European Economic Community in festive spirits following a decade of tough negotiations, though public opinion on membership was mixed.
For around 10 days, as part of a Fanfare for Europe gala, 300 sports and cultural events were held nationwide showcasing the EEC countries.
Membership had increased from six to nine, with Denmark and Ireland also joining alongside Britain.

Bangladesh High Commission in London organised a high-profile Victory Day celebration programme on December 16, where participants including eminent British parliamentarians, ambassadors, senior officials of UK Foreign Office and recipients of Friends of Liberation War honour paid their profound homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina s commitment to uphold Bangabandhu s secular, progressive and pluralistic values in sustaining Bangladesh s growth and prosperity.
