'Another pandemic' may come unless Michigan's children get their routine vaccinations


Doctors are encouraging Michigan parents to get their children’s routine vaccines up to date.
During the COVID-19 pandemic there’s been a significant decline in the percentage of children getting their measles, mumps and other vaccines.
“These diseases that vaccines protect against still circulate. And they do so without regard for the fact that a pandemic is ongoing, says Veronica McNally of the I Vaccinate campaign.

As of this morning, Dec. 30, Virginia has received approximately 285,000 vaccine doses from Pfizer and Moderna and has administered 54,295 doses to people in the Commonwealth, said Christy Gray, Division of Immunization Director at Virginia Department of Health.  
Virginia is planning to receive 370,000 doses of vaccine by Dec. 31 from both manufacturers. The state originally planned on 480,000 doses. 
Eighteen Virginia hospitals received the initial shipment of the Pfizer vaccine the week of Dec. 18 and dispersed those shipments of 72,125 doses to frontline health care workers.
Virginia also received approximately 140,000 doses of Moderna vaccine on Dec. 23, and the previously approved Pfizer vaccine and now Moderna vaccine are being distributed to 96 sites throughout the state. ....
