Brisbane Retirement Community Given Historic Green Star Rating

Bernborough Ascot, a $270 million development located at Doomben Racecourse, is set to be Australia’s most sustainable retirement community after securing the first 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia in the aged living sector.
Developed by Lendlease, the community is being constructed in stages, with the first stage - that opened in October 2020 - receiving the rating for its sustainable design.
Nathan Cockerill, managing director of Lendlease Retirement Living, says that residents of the village will reap the rewards of a sustainable community that is setting a benchmark for its competitors.

Noise fears as surfers' clubhouse gets green light | Sunshine Coast Daily


A Queensland judge has given the green light for the construction of a clubhouse for surfers on public land on the Sunshine Coast despite opposition from a pair of wealthy Brisbane businessmen who argued the club would end up hosting boozy late night functions.
On Friday Planning and Environment Court Judge Tracy Fantin ruled that the 145-member Windansea Boardriders Club at Currimundi Beach was needed in the community and would improve the physical wellbeing of the community, with minimal environmental impact to the beach foreshore.
Judge Fantin ruled in her 70-page decision that concerns raised by neighbours about noise and rowdiness from drunk patrons were not made out on the evidence . ....
