The sugar tax on soft drinks caused manufacturers to swap sugar for artificial sweeteners, which we are now learning aren t as safe as we thought, but they re being consumed by children by the ton.

No I would not support this. There’s enough taxation flying about and the industry is already taxed as a sugar levy. It won’t be long until we start getting taxed for breathing.

All depends on at what level of salt and sugar in a product that it would begin to incur taxation. Manufacturers would strive to get below this level and avoid the taxation. As for the general public, like smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol it could be a discretionary tax. If you don t want to pay the tax, don t buy the product that incurs the tax.
Hartford settles wrongful firing suit from former transfer station supervisor
Modified: 7/3/2021 10:52:06 PM
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION A former solid waste supervisor in Hartford who claimed his boss accused him of trying to buy marijuana at work and then unfairly fired him has settled with the town for $9,000, according to court documents.
In an order last week, U.S. District Court Judge Kevin Doyle agreed to dismiss the lawsuit filed last year by former town employee Bob Vahey against Hartford after the parties reached an agreement out of court. The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, meaning Vahey cannot file another lawsuit with the same complaints against the town in the future.
Even with more Americans getting vaccinated for COVID-19, protocols are still in place in order to further lower the infection rates. These would especially apply to the House, as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that COVID-19 measures will remain in place.
Pelosi announced through a statement Monday that the Office of the Attending Physician is still encouraging members of Congress to adhere to the coronavirus protocols in the chamber despite already getting vaccinated.
Members of Congress are to remain wearing face masks and practice social distancing along with other measures needed to prevent contracting coronavirus in the workplace. House members who have not received the vaccine yet were also advised to do so.

Paul Taylor: We ve been told to avoid public transport, the vaccine at present is being targeted on the elderly and infirm, the centre is not easy to get to and any one with half a brain would not have chosen it as super-vaccine centre.
Louise Davie: It is the most ridiculous venue. City centre. Narrow streets. How about murrayfield or similar, with huge car parks available? I m not bussing it anywhere thanks. I will use my car and park as close as I can but the majority of people do not live in the city centre.
Hil Mark: If people had been told they d won £1,000,000 they wouldn t be quibbling about where they had to go and collect it.
While pubs across the State are currently closed, when they were open they were subject to rules and restrictions. These included time limits on the period of time customers could be on a premises and earlier closing times.
Pub staff were also required to record the names and contact details of customers in the event contact tracing was required and to take pre-bookings from customers in a bid to avoid overcrowding and facilitate social distancing.
While failing to adhere to some or all of the rules and restrictions was never a criminal offence, gardaà had warned they would object to the renewal of some pub licences if they found breaches.
