BALTIMORE – Design and Integration, Inc., a leading provider of audio-visual technology solutions, will pay $25,000 and furnish significant equitable relief to resolve a federal disability discrimination suit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.
According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, a sales administrator who worked in Design and Integration’s Baltimore headquarters requested to telework one day per week for a three- or four-week period as a reasonable accommodation for her disability, anxiety and depression. Design and Integration refused to grant this accommodation even though the sales administrator could perform her duties remotely and the company allowed other employees to telework. BALTIMORE – Koerner Management Group, Inc., doing business as IHOP (KMG), a Virginia based corporation that owns 12 IHOP restaurant franchises, subjected women, including teen workers, to sexual harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) agency charged in a lawsuit it announced today.
According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, a manager at KMG’s IHOP restaurant in Frederick, Md., subjected a group of female employees to unwanted advances and touching, including asking teen workers to show their breasts to him and exposing himself to a teen worker. The manager also made sexual comments about female employees’ attire and bodies, called them by denigrating sexual epithets, asked intrusive questions about their personal relationships, and showed one teen worker an explicit sexual video. Court Awards Nearly $200,000 to Five Female Librarian Supervisors
On Dec 23, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland ruled that Baltimore City and its Enoch Pratt Free Library violated federal law by paying female Librarian Supervisor Is lower wages than a male coworker because of sex. The ruling followed a five-day virtual bench trial which occurred September 28 through October 2.
According to the suit filed in September 2017, Enoch Pratt Library rehired a male in June 2015 as a Librarian Supervisor I at a salary which was thousands more than that paid to the five females who held that position even though the male had fewer years of service and experience.
